The secret plan is brilliant with how it presents these monster to you , using shadow , mist , debris , and other pernicious visual method to cloud the creatures from sight just enough to give you an estimation of what they search like but still keep you enquire . The concentration and terror of these tool ’s comportment is never broken by over - photo , and the game ’s enjoyment of horrifying , pulpy sound effects paints a picture of something awful and inhuman lurking just out of sight in many of the game ’s grave coming upon field .
The inspiration for the mist is a small more elusive and could not have been intentional , but I surely thought it was there . The cold , sea - steading oil rig crap for fantabulous set stuffing . When you are n’t in the dark , claustrophobic low decks of the rig , you ’re subjected to overwhelming greyness mist and an endless area of ocean that leaves you feeling isolated and helpless amongst the repugnance of what you awaken .
The segment taking office on the secret plan ’s deck are the ones that felt invigorate by the mists . Awful , mammoth entities roam in this arena , cutting a barely visibly silhouette amongst the eerily stark grey backcloth that feels oh so familiar .
Still Wakes The Deep is capable of some outright stunning and shivery visuals and is n’t afraid to throw them at you constantly . This is due in no small part to the developers ’ decision to set the game on an oil fishing gear , which execute the plot fabulously well .
If you ’ve trifle Metal Gear Solid V , you have an idea of how interesting a scene like this can be in telecasting secret plan . However , unlike MGSV , Still Wakes The Deep test the conception far beyond it just being a cool area to explore and implement the reality of such a setting into its horror .
Ledges are abundant in the biz , where a strong nothingness or earthquake can easily discard you into the unforgiving , cold ocean below . Cramped , dark , flooded hallways of pipes and alloy corbel must be navigate with only the visible light of a flashlight . This is n’t really something I ’d usually aim out , but I bring it to your aid because I love it for reasons I ca n’t quite explain . It feels fabulously unique given the writing style , which almost only populates repugnance games with American - talk and sounding characters . It give the game a bit of sophistication and magical spell , and I am just tickled by it in a way of life that is punishing to articulate , but wanted to give props to the developer for it however .
The occasional glitch is present in Still Wakes The Deep . One that comes to mind is a in particular silly one . While having dead no impact on the gameplay , I did at one time turn around to spot that a hefty freightage come-on , with this tonnage of weight held up by equally monumental steel chain , was bouncing around and twitching like a cat toy dog , presumptively because something bumped into it .
